DPMC signed an agreement with USAID to electrify three wheelers

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the USAID Sri Lanka Energy Program and David Pieris Motor Company (DPMC) that will facilitate the electrification of three-wheelers.

Under this partnership, DPMC will convert internal combustion engine three-wheelers to electric and offer after-sales services through their island-wide service centres, while USAID-supported Sri Lanka Energy Programme will provide technical assistance and will help establish a network of charging stations that will build an enabling environment for the uptake of electric three-wheelers.

Ms. Julie Chung, U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera, Minister of Power & Energy and several dignitaries from US AID and the US Embassy attended the event.  The guests were also able to test drive and view the range of vehicles that DPMC has converted to electric
