David Pieris Group wins Mercantile Volleyball Championship 2017

David Pieris Group, playing in the Mercantile Volleyball Championship under its Championship category, bagged the title defeating Chrystal Martin Katunayake at the final held at the Indoor Courts of the National Youth Services Council, Maharagama recently.
Kalindu Mihiruk of David Pieris was adjudged the Best Player while Nalinda Channa of the same team won the Best Setter award. The tournament was organised by the Mercantile Volleyball Association.

David Pieris Group trains Northern women in auto repair
The David Pieris Group successfully concluded another programme to train women for repair Bajaj three wheelers in Kilinochchi recently.
This initiative will provide technical training in the repair of three-wheelers with the ultimate goal of creating trained, certified women mechanics. It is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, as it is the only mechanic based technical programme targeting women only, started by the DP Group few months ago.
The programme was organized and fully funded by the Group's Social Welfare Committee.

In the auto repair industry, a field where 99% of employees are men, David Pieris Group of Companies has begun making inroads to change this statistic with its 'Empowering Women through Technical Training' programme.
